Teeth

  • Jun. 22nd, 2009 at 11:34 PM
halp, overwhelmed
I got my wisdom teeth extracted today.

Currently recuperating with an all-white cat on my lap, savoring the results of my liquid diet.

Also, my wife is absolutely amazing. I keep falling for her every day.

This could have been longer, but I'm tired, and I doubt that people really want to hear the details of me undergoing sedation, or about how wonderful my naps throughout the day were.

Ugh! I'm really sorry. I got my wisdom teefs removed when I was about 21 or 22, and it really sucked. The hydrocodone made me hallucinate, so I refused to take it. My dad made me some really great banana + blueberry shakes w/tofu and protein powder. Made me feel a lot better!

You were vegetarian then? Of course, I just realized I don't know how old you are . . . . Not to insult you by any means.

And I'm both enjoying the progress of, and looking forward to the results of your project with Rachel Nabors.

No, it's ok!!! No insult taken or anything! I wasn't yet a vegetarian, but my mouth was very sore and I have low blood sugar. My dad's a really good cook, and he sat and thought about it, and figured that was the best way to get a lot of protein into me in a reliable manner. Just get the silken tofu and toss it in the blender. SO GOOD. Actually filling, and blueberries have antioxidants -- they'll help you heal up faster.

and looking forward to the results of your project with Rachel Nabors.

Thank you so much! I'm going to get back to working on pages for our submission packet once I get back from the writing workshop - kinda had to put it on hold for a little but, but Rachel got crazy busy, too.

Man I am sorry I know it hurts. I do have some advice for food and pain relief.

1.)Cuisinarts are wonderful things. When i got mine out my mom took a plane McDonald's hamburger threw it in there and I could eat real food but in crumbs. You can put a lot of things like that in there. But make sure you rinse your mouth really well.

2.)Also it might sound a bit weird but... a baby teething also helps numb the pain. Stick it in the freezer and there you go.

You'll be sore for a couple of days, but you'll be back to eating normal things before you know it! Just take it really slow at first.

I would actually love to hear the gruesome details of all the fantastic naps you took and how much you're not hallucinating, but I'm sure I'll hear more when you're feeling better. :)

Good luck healing up! Mine was -terrible- and I would never wish what I went through on anyone. Hopefully you are doing just delightfully with some extra naps and nummy liquids (it was over 3 days before I could consume anything more than flavored soup broth...). Cats are -always- a help (cute snuggly little buggers!)!! ^_^

I agree with tscheese - gory details!
